1. Archaeological sites

Evidence given by the findings of the excavations, prove the existence of ancient Thira. A number of information for the Hellenistic and Roman years of the city is provided at the same time 
The excavations were carried out during the period of 1895-1902.
The cemetaries located in Selada, were revealed in the period 1961 – 1982.
The most important monuments found in the ancient city are:
Α. Artemidoros Temple – Temple carved in the rock, founded by Artemidoros. 
Epigrams, signs and symbols of gods, carved in the rocks, came into the light.
End of 4th – Early of rd century. 
Β. Market – Located in the center of the city. The business center was situated in the southern part, while the middle part was used for the administration. During the Roman years, the northern part was added, including a gallery, monuments and buildings. 
Γ. Royal Gellery  -  Building in the southern end of the market. It was built while August was in power in the 1st century AD.
A series of dorian columns offer support to the roof. 
Δ. Dionysos Temple  – A small Hellenistic temple, in the northern part of the market. Dorian style. Of the 3rd century.
Ε. Temples’ Area - A number of temples are found in the southeastern part (Temples of Apollon, Hermes, Hercules). The square in honor of Apollon Karnios, used for ceremonies is also found in the same area.  
Ζ. Apollon Karnios Temple - Temple of the 6th century. It consists of: 
1. Temple 2. A square shaped yard and 3. Small building 
Η. Juniors High School   – In the city’s southern part. Built in the 2nd century.
Θ. Old Thira Cemetaries – Located on the Sellades slopes. Remains of cemetaries covering the period from the Geometrical era to Roman years. 
Ι. Ancient Theater – Situated in the Southeastern part of the Market. It was built during the years of Ptolemies in the 3rd century BC.
When it was first constructed, the orchestra was circular, while a number of modifications, during the 1st century AD, resulted in the extension of the initial plan of the stage. 

2.  Museums

Α. Prehistoric Thira Museum   - It hosts remains of the excavations carried out in Akrotiri and in a number of other locations. 
An attempt to demonstrate the island’s course through the Prehistoric years. 
Β. Ia Maritime Museum – Maritime exhibits related to the nautical island’s history, in the years of the high power during the 19th century. 
Γ. Thira Foundation of Petros M. Nomikos  – Photo reproductions of the Akrotiri murals.
